April Goble’s interview was a delightful look into the life and thoughts of the woman who is the Chick Sales Coordinator at MacFarlane Pheasants. Remember her name because if life goes the way she expects, she will still be here in 30 years. The Midwest Poultry Consortium Center of Excellence (CEO) benefits students who are interested in strong research-based poultry education. Students from participating sites may take innovative poultry science classes at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and take part in internships that will fit into the academic timetable. Credits are transferable to the students’ home university. MacFarlane Pheasants, Inc. is active in the Midwest Poultry Consortium and regularly takes interns at their farm. This summer we welcomed Caroline Greg from Iowa State University and Reilly Hoefker from South Dakota State University. Both students are taking advantage of the University of Wisconsin classes. Stephan arrived in Janesville, Wisconsin from his home in Schoemanskloof, South Africa on March 15, 2018. Like all of the workers who came here from South Africa, he went through a complex process with a company in South Africa that places workers in a United States work environment. MacFarlane Pheasants, Inc. was one of the employers that signed up with that company to accept workers who were vetted and could obtain a work visa. This is MacFarlane’s second year in the program. Felipe Nunez Casique worked for MacFarlane Pheasants for most of the last 20 years. He had been battling an illness for years. He passed away on May 28, 2018 at the home of his former wife, Buffy surrounded by his family. Felipe leaves behind three children who loved him dearly, eight siblings, and a large close-knit community. He was preceded in death by 2 sons. Felipe was born on January 26, 1967 in Mexico. Deante Calvin is one of the most positive employees at MacFarlane Pheasants. He is friendly and kind to everyone he meets.  We are so happy he is an employee with us, and that he’ll be celebrating his 6 year anniversary in May 2018. Dillon Seamster has worked at MacFarlane Pheasants for a little over three years. He started out as a crew lead with the Pen Crew. As a crew lead, Dillon was required to learn all of the paperwork related to his job and also how to run full crews for an entire shift. He attributes his training and experience for helping him to develop his people skills and learning how to keep everything moving forward in a positive manner. One of the positive moves forward for Dillon is that he recently became the manager of the Pen Crew.  Read More »
