Naga Convention 2020

On February 19, 2020 in General by spope

Bill MacFarlane, owner of MacFarlane Pheasants, his wife and Advisory Board Member, Dori MacFarlane, and Sarah Pope, General Manager attended the North American Game Bird Association (NAGA) convention in Memphis, Tennessee February 3-5 2020. The NAGA mission is “to protect, promote, and sustain a positive environment for game bird producers and hunting preserve operators.” They focus on preserving wildlife in rural America, raising public awareness, and environmental management.  The NAGA mission is truly a source of pride for all game bird operators. This year’s convention was a great way to connect with our friends and colleagues in the game bird business.

There was a full convention schedule, as usual, this year, filled with informative speakers, panel discussions and networking opportunities for game bird producers, hunting preserve operators and outdoor industry members. Anyone involved in the game bird business should consider joining NAGA and attending next year’s conference in Las Vegas Feb 1-3 2020.

Here are just a few of the topics you missed at this year’s conference. Sara Pope was very excited about the topics on “How to Get More from Your Greatest Assets” and the “Herding Dog Trainer” seminars in Memphis.

•  Everything You Need to Run a Gamebird Farm

•  Composting Animal Waste and Mortality

•  How to Get More from Your Greatest Assets

•  Cover Crop Management at Your Hunt Club

•  Tips on Preparation and Care of Your Gamebirds in Extreme Weather Conditions

•  Herding Dog Trainer

It wasn’t all work and no play in Memphis! Many of the attendees enjoyed Beale Street, The Civil Rights Museum and Memphis BBQ.  An anonymous donor provided a bus for participants to go to Graceland one afternoon, as well. These events attended with other like-minded individuals gave lots of opportunities to network. MacFarlane Pheasants looks forward to seeing you at next year’s convention in Las Vegas!
