Tell me about your family. Are you married? Do you have kids? Any pets?
I am married, Claudia and I just celebrated our 15th Anniversary. We have two daughters Emily 11, Ellie 6, and a Black lab – Bailey 13.

Where are you from?
I am from Sheboygan, WI.

Do you have any siblings?
I have a younger sister who currently lives in CO with three daughters of her own.

Where was your first job?
My first job was as a First Mate on a Salmon fishing charter boat on Lake Michigan.

Where did you go to school? What is your degree in?
I graduated from UW -Stevens Point with a B.S. in Resource Management in 1994.

How long have you worked at MacFarlane Pheasants?
I have worked at MacFarlane Pheasants for 11 years.

What is your job title there?
I am currently managing the Milton farm.

If MacFarlane’s isn’t your dream job, what is?
When I decided to go to college my end goal was to have a career in the outdoors, considering I get to spend 90% of my time working outdoors, I’d say I’m pretty close to having my dream job.

How do you like to spend your free time?
In my free time I guide for trout and salmon on Lake Michigan during the summer, I hunt during the fall, ice fish during the winter, and chase Turkeys during the spring. I help coach my oldest daughter’s volleyball team as a family we spend a lot of time boating/skiing.

Did you have a fun nickname growing up? What was it?
In high school some referred to me as “smiley”

What is the strangest (craziest, weirdest, most dangerous) thing you’ve ever done?
While dating my future wife I was applying for jobs all over the country. I received a call from the Forest Service in Hells Canyon, Idaho on a Friday and accepted a job that required me to leave that Monday. Broke the news to my ‘girlfriend’, packed my bags, and headed west. Aside from the adventurous job in the middle of Hells Canyon, I soon realized I needed to commit to the girl that had stood by my side. When she came out to visit mid-summer we got engaged, spent two summers apart while I worked in Idaho, and two winters together in Missouri while she was getting her Masters Degree.

How would you describe yourself in 5 words?
Five words to describe me: practical, prompt, loyal, determined, and competitive.

Brian Klein
