Renovations and Placement of All Breeders in Seneca, Missouri

On December 22, 2023 in Breeders by Bill MacFarlane

Troy Cisewski, our Director of Production at MacFarlane Pheasants was excited to share the changes to one of our barns at our MoPhe farm in Missouri. Our manager at MoPhe, Shane Smith, and his staff recently completed renovations, and a new breeder barn was born!

Construction on the breeder facility began at the start of July 2023 with the removal of cages in the barn. Shane organized the removal of a wall separating two halves of the large barn. We installed tunnel fans, a water system, and a feed system. Next, the crew repositioned the lights to provide adequate lighting for this large area. Breeders for the 2024 season were placed in our remodeled space on October 9, 2023. The barn will hold 2600 breeder hens for egg collection.

For the 2024 egg season, we have relocated all of our breeders to Missouri! We will no longer have egg collection in Wisconsin. With the additional breeder space at MoPhe, and the utilization of space at the other two farms in Missouri, we added 7000 additional hens to our flock this year. During the 2024 breeder season, we will have 35,000 breeder hens laying an estimated 2.9 million eggs. We filled our last barn with breeders on December 18, 2023, and we expect our first breeders to begin laying the week of January 20, 2024.

If you have questions about breeder hens, Troy Cisewski, Director of Production, MacFarlane Pheasants, will know the answer! He graduated from the University of Wisconsin, River Falls, with a degree in Animal Science and has been working at MacFarlane Pheasants since 2008. [email protected].
