Research Team Lead

Description:

As North America’s top producer of meat pheasants, MacFarlane Pheasants offers a unique opportunity to join our white pheasant breeding and research team.  Qualified candidates are motivated and detail-oriented, with excellent team skills. They will report to the Research Manager and work within a team to execute the white pheasant breeding and research program. This position requires production on a strict time schedule while overseeing overall health and quality of life for the pheasant.

Responsibilities:

Working hands-on to ensure quality and completion of daily tasks and projects including:

  • Daily chores (feeding, watering, monitoring the health of the pheasants)

  • Artificial Insemination

  • Bird handling and data collection

  • Maintaining the barns and keeping them clean

  • Shared responsibility of on-call alarm system

  • Some weekend work required

Qualifications:
  • Exceptional team communication skills

  • Ability to work in a barn environment, with birds

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel

  • Ability to follow-through on assignments

  • Minimum of High School Diploma, or equivalent

  • Previous poultry experience not required

Hen Barn Technician 

MacFarlane Pheasants is hiring a Hen Barn Technician to work in the White Pheasant Breeding Program. They will report to the Research Manager, and work in a team to complete daily tasks and projects. The breeding and research program demands production on a strict time schedule while overseeing the overall health and quality of life for the pheasants.

 

Responsibilities:

Daily chores: feeding, watering, monitoring the health of the birds

Artificial Insemination
Moving and weighing birds

Maintaining the barns and keeping them clean

Some weekend work is required

 

Qualifications:

Ability to work in a poultry barn environment and with birds

Detail oriented

Ability to follow-through on assignments
Previous poultry experience is not required

 

 

Brooder Crew Member

We are the largest gamebird producer in North America.  At this time, our company is looking for a motivated, responsible and detail oriented individual to become part of our Brooder Crew.  The successful candidate will provide support and care for pheasant and partridge chicks from day 1 until they are 7 weeks of age.  Responsibilities include but not limited to: ensuring the environment is correct for the age of the bird, collection and accurate recording of mortality, clean and prepare barns for next set of birds and operate tractors, bobcats and other farm equipment.

This is a full-time, hands-on position in a fast-paced environment.  Applicant must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds, work in dusty, hot and humid environments and have a valid driver’s license.  Applicant will have a 5 day set schedule working from 7am – 4:30pm.  Weekend work will be required.
