Meet our Founder - Donald J. MacFarlane

After spending 11 years working for a large industrial organization, Donald J. MacFarlane, a chemical engineer graduate, decided to establish his own business. He wanted to do something that combined his love of the great outdoors with a means of making a living. His brother Kenneth, who had started a pheasant farm nine years before in 1929, was doing well in the business, and urged Don to come back to their hometown of Janesville, Wisconsin and start a pheasant farm next to his. In 1938, Don did just that – moved back to Janesville, Wisconsin and got into the pheasant business. In 1941, the two farms were merged and continued to be known as MacFarlane Pheasant Farm. Today the farm continues on under the direction of Don’s son, Bill MacFarlane.
