Alarm System

On September 13, 2013 in General by spope

The Farm Alarm Monitoring System is a wireless system with a master unit that gets hard wired into a phone line and several satellite units installed into our individual rooms or barns to monitor temperature, loss of water pressure, power loss, and lights. Communication between the units is conducted through radio waves that can transmit up to ¼ mile. The system has two settings, which allows for the use of two systems in one facility without interfering with one another.

The master unit being connected to the phone line is an important part of the system’s function; everything can be controlled by telephone. Phone numbers are programmed into the master so when an alarm event occurs it will call the assigned numbers until someone acknowledges the alarm with their phone’s keypad. Once acknowledged, the call receiver can make changes to the alarm or whole system on their phone. This allows us to make changes without physically being on-site. In addition to the phone alarm, there is also an external alarm that can be set during office hours.

The alarm system is customizable and can be adjusted to fit the business. It can be programmed to make a test call once a day, week, month, or year to verify that it is working properly. In addition to logistical customization, it can be adjusted to fit the business’s structural needs. Sayings can be rerecorded (ex: “1B Alarm” instead of “House 1 Alarm”), standard security can be programmed (alarm to sound if a door is opened when it shouldn’t be), and alarms themselves can be customized. For example: and alarm can be set for when a generator turns on and can just as easily be programmed to sound when the generator stops. Troubleshooting is simple as well. There are boards inside the alarm unit that can be easily unplugged and tested for problems.
