North American Game Bird Association Convention 2019

On February 11, 2019 in Archive by spope

Brian Klein, Sarah Pope, and Bill MacFarlane represented our farm at the North American Game Bird Association (NAGA) Convention in Savannah, Georgia January 14, 15, 16, 2019. MacFarlane Pheasants has been a member of NAGA for two generations. The NAGA mission “to protect, promote, and sustain a positive environment for game bird producers and hunting preserve operators” is just the highlight of the associations’ objectives. They also focus on preserving wildlife in rural America, raising public awareness, and environmental management. These are the reasons MacFarlane Pheasants attends this convention every year.

At this year’s convention, Brian Klein, who has been employed at MacFarlane Pheasants for 16 years, and is currently the Production Manager, spoke to attendees about “Dealing with Emergencies on Your Operation.”

Brian has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Resource Management from the University of Wisconsin-Steven’s Point. His experience and education made him uniquely qualified for this presentation.

Bill MacFarlane, owner of MacFarlane Pheasants and past NAGA President spoke to attendees about a trip he made with other longtime members of NAGA to Washington, DC., just before the 2018 Farm Bill was passed. The group wanted to play a part in passing a bill that would assist bird producers in the event of an Avian Flu epidemic.

Bill grew up on a pheasant farm, owned by his dad, Don, and started running the farm at 24 years old after graduating from the University of Houston with an Economics degree. This is his 40th season at MacFarlane Pheasants.

Of course, we are always proud to have MacFarlane speakers at the NAGA Convention, but Sarah Pope, MacFarlane Pheasants’ General Manager, Brian Klein, and Bill MacFarlane were also there to learn.

Many thanks to the experts in wildlife preservation and every aspect of the game bird industry that spoke at this year’s convention. Special thanks also to the vendors who participated in this year’s event. The combination of experience, knowledge, and networking, made this year’s NAGA event one of the best! We look forward to the convention in 2020 to be held in Memphis, Tennessee.
