April Goble’s interview was a delightful look into the life and thoughts of the woman who is the Chick Sales Coordinator at MacFarlane Pheasants. Remember her name because if life goes the way she expects, she will still be here in 30 years. When she was asked what she wants to be doing 30 years from now, she said, “I will still be here at MacFarlane’s getting ready to retire and crying because my son and daughter have their own lives. I’ll be enjoying my grandchildren, though!”
April grew up in Orfordville, WI and graduated from Parkview High School. She worked at the Ramada Inn, on the weekends, while still in high school, and wasn’t too excited about a lifetime of cleaning rooms. Following high school, April worked as a personal banker at Associated Bank. She met some of the MacFarlane Pheasants’ managers when they came in to do their banking. One thing led to another and before long April was hired at MacFarlane Pheasants, Inc. That was three years ago, in December of this year.
When April was asked how MacFarlane’s has helped her in her career development, she talked about the opportunity it has given her to expand her knowledge of the poultry industry and computer programs used in the business. The three words she used to describe MacFarlane Pheasants were “fast paced environment.” She loves working with customers and her proudest moments on the job are when she sells all of the day-old chicks. She describes herself as “dedicated, driven, and organized.” These are the very reasons customers love her!
April is able to balance her job and family life, like a champ. She calls her job a blessing because the hours allow her to work at a job she loves and still have time for her beloved family. April and her husband have been together for 11 years and married for 5 years. They have two beautiful children who are 4 and 1.
This active family is on the go, almost every weekend, and loves to travel across the country. They love everything to do with the outdoors including fishing and hunting, going to zoos, aquariums, museums, and running and playing with their children. The best vacation ever was when the family took a trip to South Carolina this past year. They stopped in Indiana and went to the zoo there. In Louisville, Kentucky they visited the Louisville Slugger Museum and the Louisville Zoo. In Crossville, Tennessee they visited an aunt for Easter and finally ended up in Charleston, South Carolina to visit good friends.
April also enjoys reading, playing with the kids, watching sports, hunting, and fishing! Her proudest lifetime experience is the children. They make her smile and laugh every single day. Her favorite kind of day is a day with her family. She said, “No matter how my day is going, I know I can go home and count on my family being excited to see me and putting a smile on my face.”
