As a pheasant farmer – this is my favorite time of the year. All the work we’ve put into breeding and hatching and raising our pheasants is being rewarded as we now are delivering adult pheasants. The weather has been much cooler than normal – which is really good for raising pheasants. We had four major deliveries last week (2500+ adult pheasants each delivery) – one to Colorado, one to Montana and Washington and two to Quebec Canada. Our customers were happy!
Last winter our sales of birds went really flat – the economy and the weather made things tough. We are hoping this fall and winter go better. We reduced production by 20% – which is economically really a tough thing to do – we hope we made the right choices.
My intent is to write about what is going on day to day on our farm. The good and the bad.
