Our net revenues are about the same as they were when are gross revenues were about half of what they are now. With increased costs (especially feed) and the fact it’s difficult to raise prices when our competitors don’t raise their prices much, something has to give. We have really cut back on capital expenditures over the past four years. In the case of our Freightliner delivery trucks those cut backs have resulted in greatly increased repair bills for our trucks with so many miles on them.
Around the farm we are running equipment far longer before we replace it. This policy extends to my truck, a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado SS. This morning on the way to work the odometer turned to 200,000 miles. I’m proud of the fact I’ve taken good care of my vehicle and that it looks great.
